Access to the file is denied.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

we are backing up C: drive to the remote location: 172.28.1.1\Backups\server\
and sometimes job gets stuck saying: Access to the file is denied. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

What might be causing this problem?

Hello OpenIP Support,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

This behavior can have several causes.

  • What Build of your Acronis Product is used?
  • What kind of vault is used? (personal/centralized?)
  • Is dedup feature used? How is the environment setup?
  • Where is the Acronis Storage Node installed?

However, it seems, that the backup archive already is used by another process. This indicates, that the Acronis Storage Node for instance is working with the archive.

I am looking forward for your answer.

Thank you.

I have nearly the same Problem with temporary Files from Office (~*.xlsx or ~*.docx). The files are excluded in the backup-job, but the Job breaks anyway with an "Access denied"-Error. Why can't Acronis skip These files automatically without any user Intervention? I am working with Acronis Backup & Recovery Build 11.0.17440. It is very frustrating, when no Backup works when users are logged in the Network. Does anyone knows how to make a backup in which these Errors are ignored.
Greetings
Andre
