Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Error Code: 507 Failed to open the archive by ID

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 with a Dell Server. I am trying to backup to a removable device Dell sells. This device is an RD1000 450 GB removable cartridge hard drive. I can backup to it and I have been able to restore files from it as a test.

I do get one warning at the start of each backup. The warning is posted below. I do not get this warning when I backup to any other drive other then the RD1000. I just want to make sure that this warning will not give me issues if and when I need to restore a whole disk image. Here is the error below as seen in the log file.

Can anyone shed some light on this error?

This error can be safely ignored since it doesn't affect backup or recovery process. It usually happens when the backups archive is created, but no metadata is found during the process. It is related to special way of communication between our product and removable cartridge you're using.

So there's no need to worry: this error can be safely ignored.

I am getting the same error on several of our servers, in most cases as a result of manually deleting a backup file using Windows Explorer when the archive couldn't be deleted using the Acronis console.
Is there a way to "udpate" the metadate so that it reflects the archive actually present in a vault and stops reporting the errror?
I can't just ignore the error because I can't be sure that the 'Error" status isn't alerting me to additional problems, so I have to check the details of the job every time.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience, at the moment  there is no way to edit the metadata to get rid of the error. This is a known issue in our software and we are currently working on a fix which will be released in the next update of our software.

I get a similar error every day too (see below). It just doesn't give me a comfortable feeling to see warnings or amber dates on the dashboard.

This message appears because of a GUI issue and you can safely ignore this warning, the backup itself is not affected. We will definitely address it in Update 4, and as a workaround, you can replace a certain .dll file to get rid of it. Please use the following KB article for additional information.

We are currently using Acronis B&R 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition with the ESX Appliance. We have Acronis B&R 10 Management Console installed on a machine in order to interface to the virtual appliance. We have been receiving the same log information that has been posted here.

Unfortunately, it appears the documented fix in the KB article does not apply to our current situation (there is no Acronis Managed Machine Service, nor a DiskBundle.dll file located on the management server). Please let me know if you have specific instructions for a fix to our situation.

I'm having the same error. However, my backup begin ok, then when it is about 50% done, it stops and doesn't continue it continues to give me that error.

Then the backup goes very, very, very slow. It will take 4 days. I started in on Friday, and by Monday it was only 74% done.

Is there anything further that I can do?

If this is resolved in ABE 10 Update 4, then why has it returned in ABR 11?

This is coming up on all my servers since an update to ABR 11 last week. Any solutions to this?

Because though ABR10 and ABR11 have a common ancestor, it's not Update 4 because even beta of ABR11 was released before ABR10 U4. If it's resolved in a custom dll build for builds before U4 and fixed in U4, ABR11 may need a separate fix.

I have similar issue. I think.
The error message is not exactly the same. And I do not understand why it is saying "Failed to execute the command. The 'Replication' command initiates backup replication." when I do not setup a replication of the backup. Only retention rules.
I am using build 11.0.17217 which is the latest build available in this moment.

We learned to ignore the error in version 10, then appreciated when it was fixed, and now were are ignoring it again in version 11. We are getting it for all backup jobs that we are able to actully to make run in version 11. We can't get the new version functioning on about half of our servers, so this is very low on our Acronis priority list right now. I continue to trust that this can be ignored and is not an indication of an archive corruption.

Unbeliavable, we have the same error on many WS with ABR11 build 17345. I'm really wondering how many programmers Acronis really have and what they are doing, this bug is now more than 1,5 years old!!!

I really would like to ask the Product Manager from Acronis a few questions, but I guess they don't have one. Nonexistent like a quality control.

We are experiencing this issue on a number of servers using Backup & Recovers 11 Agent Build 11.0.17318.

I see the trail has gone cold.

Acronis, please can we have a solution? As a previous post mentioned, this issue had been around for 1.5 years, now 2!

Same here, the issue we are having is Acronis B&R 11 wasn't able to delete some of the older archives, so we had to manually delete them ourselves. The problem is when you bring up the console, you see a list of all archives, even the deleted ones. Should this manually be changed in the xml file or catalog file generated from backups to reflect the most current archive set? Acronis, what is the workaround?

In order to get a fast solution, I would however suggest to contact Acronis support by phone and give detailed information about the backup scheme, mode (see http://kb.acronis.com/content/2905) and settings + exact models of backup target(s).
