Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 doesn't start - C++ runtime error
Hi,
The installation of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 doesn't start. A C++ runtime error occurs when I launch the installation program as displayed in the "install-error-install.png" attached file.
I installed "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)" (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-…) but even after a restart, the installation still doesn't start.
My OS is Win 2003 SP1
Could you please help me to make it work,

Hello,
I have the same issue with a clean install of Server 2003 R2. The above suggestions do not work.
I was able to use the msi for the License Server to get that component installed successfully. Same for the Storage Node. However, the msi for Management Server is giving me a problem - probably because it doesn't automatically configure SQL.
Are there any more suggestions?
The reason I am installing on a fresh machine is because my entire deployment of B&R 10 is a total joke. I've been fighting this software since August and only had a short period around February where the entire enterprise was happy. I thought, "let's just start fresh" but apparently that doesn't work either.

Hello Matthew Totaro,
Thank you very much for your post. I will be happy to assist you.
The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 comes only in the executable installation package. You can either install it from there or, use your own version of MS SQL. Please check this article for additional details. I would also recommend to use the executable installation package, because it provides better error reporting environment in case of failures.
I have checked your closed cases in our database and I am happy to let you know that those issues have been successfully resolved in our latest build of the software. We are planning to release Update 2 very soon, which has been improved even more.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.

Anton and Oleg,
Maybe I was not clear. The executable does not work. That is why I can't use it to assist with the SQL install and configuration.
Dr. Watson does not create a log or a dump when the error occurs. I don't think the installation even begins so maybe Windows doesn't see a crash. I have sent the system info in a PM.
When you say Update 2 is coming very soon, when do you think it will be released?
Matt

We just installed Acronis B+R 10 last 2 months ago. It ran fine for about a month. When I now go to open the program I get a MS Visual C++ runtime error and the program closes. How can I fix this problem.
In addition, I am getting a act.exe error. I posted this problem and have made the change that was given to that problem this morning. Are the two errors related?

Hello Stuart!
Thank you for finding time to join us on Forum and for reporting about the issue! I completely understand how inconvenient the situation is, and will be glad to help you!
This error could've been caused by several reasons, and unfortunately due to the lack of diagnostic information we can only guess what happened.
In order for us to localise the issue and find an approproate solution, could you please gather the following information from the machine you're getting the issue on?
- Acronis Report
- Windows Event Logs (Start -> Run -> eventvwr.msc)
- Dr. Watson dump file
Provide us with the data collected either by attaching it to the comment in the thread or by sending it to any Forum Moderator via PM. It will help us to find out the exact cause of the problem.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!
