Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Trial on SBS 2008 - breaks Windows Backup - VSS issue
We installed a trial version of Backup & Recovery 10 on SBS 2008 (64bit) - it didn't work and we uninstalled it immediately only to find that the Windows Backup no longer worked - reporting a VSS issue (error codes0x8004230F and 0x8604230F).
Since we are an Acronis Reseller we contacted our local distributor who sent us a couple of links from Acronis Support - one was for manually uninstalling Acronis and the other related SBS 2003 and dated back to 2006. I went through the manual uninstall - most of the items were not present, but a few were and I fixed them. However it did not resolve the issue. I am reticent to apply the other fix because it is so old and at any rate doesn't relate to SBS 2008.
Our Windiws Backup was working fine immediately before Acronis was installed.
We are in a desperate situation not being able to backup the server by any means - and becasue Acronis was installed for about an hour we never got to register it, meaning we don't have access to Acronis Support.
From my research it is becoming clear that many people have had this issue when Acronis has been installed. The reasons appear to be wide and varied.
Can someone help us with this issue?

UPDATE:
I ran the vssadmin list providers command and Acronis is still showing up as a provider.
I scanned the registry for the key {f782463b-33bb-4043-ad8d-60b728d26a6c} cited in the results and found a couple of keys which were deleted, but running the VSS admin command again still shows Acronis as a VSS provider. Note that the server has not been rebooted after the registry edits.
How can I remove Acronis as a VSS Service Provider? I've followed all the fixes provided by Acronis, and the registry does not find any key or value with the above string, and yet Acronis is still showing as a VSS service provider, which is probably why the Windows Backup fails creating a Volume Shadow copy. Is there some other setting somewhere in Server 2008 for this? Note also that Acronis is not listed in the COM+Applications in Component Services.
Please help - thanks

Hello Albert,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]
I don't know the exact sequence of the actions executed by Keith. Please see the below information on how to resolve the issue. We have had a similar thread concerning the same issue. Please see this thread for more information.
If this doesn't help, please try the following:
- Open Windows Registry Editor (Start-Run, type in regedit);
- Navigate to the following registry key (if it is not present, create it):
Windows 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Settings\DiskManager
Windows 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Settings\DiskManager
- Under the \DiskManager\ key create a new DWORD value with the UseNativeVssProvider name (note the CamelCase). Set the value of the created UseNativeVssProvider entry to "1":
As the result, the native Microsoft VSS snapshot creation will be forced.
Please let us know the results. We are looking forward to hear from you.
Thank you.
