Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Server Universal Restore to be used in Linux?

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I have purchased this version of Acronis:
Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Server Universal Restore

I have used it to image a windows server and it is working perfectly.

Can this version be used to imaging and restoring(through image) a Linux server: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.2 or do I REALLY need to purchase Acronis for Linux?

I have not tried it physically yet. Was hoping to get some information first before I down the server just to perform a 'testing' activity.

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks!

Its bootable media AFAIK is the same for linux and windows version, and if you boot the computer with it and provide it with an image of linux computer, it will prompt you for UR for Linux. So if you shut the server down, make a backup from bootable CD and then restore, you will be able to test it. Technically. Legally you need a separate license for restoring another linux server.

In case if you decide to install it on the live system, note that "Advanced Server" (unlike standalone version) includes binaries for both linux and windows, so you can download linux binaries from you account. They are not included in the main .exe windows installer however.

Hi IT Admin

The advanced server edition is able to backup Linux servers as well however you need to purchase an additional license and are not able to use the same license to backup more than one server!

If you want to get it tested out you can always get a trial key online and use that for the next 15 days to see how it runs and if you are happy with it proceed to purchase the additional license.

For more details on how to perform the install of the Linux agent of both the Advanced edition and/or the stand alone Linux edition please refer to the following section of the manual, they have some good documentation and would also suggest reading through the “Preparation” section as well.

Thanks dev-anon and Datastor.

For License issue not a problem as I have 4 licenses.
Just needed to know whether it can be used to image a Linux server using the bootable media.

Thanks for your answers!
