Acronis BR 10 and VSS Aware Databases

Thread needs solution

I am looking into how VSS aware Acronis BR 10.0 is at present, from what I can see it is able to create a VSS snapshot of all partitions at once to avoid logs/databases on different partitions and that it uses a fake snapshot to the Microsoft VSS Writer to flush the transaction logs, memory and create the moment needed to snapshot the databases.

This moment is then snapped by the Acronis application and the Microsoft VSS Writer is cancelled, this results in event log errors that are false as the snapshot has been completed by Acronis in the background.

My concern is that this quiesce of the application is only for the VSS copy commands and not the complete commands so Exchange 2007 will not be aware a backup has completed and will not flush its log files, this is often referred to as a crash consistent backup. If this is the case then I will need another backup option to ensure logs are flushed or use circular logging and accept that risk.

Is there an Acronis member here who can confirm the exact VSS support for BR 10.0 against Exchange 2007/2010, SQL Server2005/2008, Sharepoint? Can Acronis produce a true VSS aware backup or just a crash consistent backup?

I had looked over that KB and noted it was not approved yet. I think it will need a test backup and restore to confirm I think exactly what happens in a test lab. Thanks for the reply!
