Acronis Cloning process in Multiboot W7 /XP situation
I have a multiboot machine (I built 2 the same) : previously it had #1 W7 Pro #2 XP SP3 and #3 XP SP3. Three partition. I built 2 machine at the same time . One machine had System reserve (100Mg) the other fortunately did not. I have backed up and restored these partitions. 20-30 times without much problem. However, I also have always wanted to "store within the computer a 2nd HDD of the O/S mirrored or cloned.
Everytime I've attempted to "Clone" with Acronis it is disaster. The clone is completed successfully (message) I then switch power and Sata cables to the"cloned drive...depending, it may boot OK and then I return to the original drive and MBR ERROR 3 (XP) hit enter then MBR error 1 (W7). I return to the cloned drive which booted OK and I get the same thing MBR Error messages.
Sometimes BOTH dirves go DOWN.
This has happened 5-6 times over 5 years. I've always had to request professional service. Can someone give me some information about the
boot manager: boot configuration process as it applies to Acronis Cloning.
I have just recently changed the configuration to
#1 W7 Pro :#2 W7-2 Pro #3. XP .
I cloned the new configuration. Same thing happens exactly, time and time again. MBR ERROR #3.....Enter #1...Enter #2.
Is acronis CAPABLE of cloning and MAINTAINING a CORRECT boot record.
I understand Acronis follows immediately AFTER the BIOS and POST and then
reads the 1st Sector of Partition Table and seeks out where the Boot Manager is and then passes off control to the Boot Manager. It is somewhere here that the process fails or I just don't understand what I'm doing, whether right or wrong
Any Help and information appreciated. Acronis TI Home 2011 (have 14 but not in this system) + Disk Director 10 (I think) or 10.5
Thank you
