Acronis .tib images rescue

Thread needs solution

Hi guys,

here is the problem I am having, our previous IT guy went awire and deleted all of the backups of the server that contained important medical data. We were able to retrieve the .tib files from the deleted directories using data recovery software but unfortunately the .tib files are in random order and range from just 20mb to 22gigs in size. Even worse is the fact that when trying to view any of these using acronis 10.0 we get message saying the images are corrupt. The interesting part is that when trying to explorer these files individually or search them we always get the window that asks for a password. We tried every possible combination of passwords that have previously been used with no luck.

So my question is, is there any way we can either bypass the password or extract this valuable company data?

We have tried using the Pearl script and the zip decompression method from the link below with no luck.

If anybody has a suggestion or solution, we would greatly appreciate it.

Hello Nick Sivovol,

Thank you very much for your post. I would like to apologise for not answering earlier, but I will definitely try and resolve this issue.

Can you tell me, what build of Acronis 10.0 you were using to view the files?

It is very important that you keep all the .tib files in one folder. It is possible some of them are incremental/differential and they need to be together with full backups in order to open properly.

Where are the .tib files stored? If they are located on an external hard drive, can you move them to an internal and try browsing one more time. Do you still get the image is corrupt message?

Have you tried booting from the Acronis Rescue CD and try to recover anything from those .tib files?

Can you tell me if the password error you are getting, is in any way similar to the one shown here?

I would really like to get this resolved, so, if you can reply to my post with all the answers I would really appreciate it.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
