Acronis True Image 2010 - File Backup "My Data" not backing selected folders / drives

Thread needs solution

Hi All,
I'm using Acronis True Image 2010 on Windows 7 Enterprise Trial Version.

I select "file Backup" and "My Data". I then choose the normal options such as "documents", "images", and "my Documents". I then Choose "My Computer" and select several folders and drives - total of about 70GB of data (attachements 1 & 2). The backup drive have about 400 GB of free space so I figure this isn't an issue.

When I run the backup it takes a total of about 60 seconds and leaves me with a 139MB .tib file. It's obviously not backing up the extra stuff I've chosen. If I look at the .tib file in explorer all it seems to have backed up is stuff under C:\users\my username and nothing else (as you can see from attachment 3)

Any ideas as to what is happening here?

Thanks

Mick

When I clicked "Notify me when new comments are posted" it made me comment. No other reason for the comment ;)

Is anything odd reported in the log?

If you just select a drive (E: or F:, for example) with nothing else checked, does it work?

Personally, for drives, I'd back them up as an image instead of a "data" type backup.

Hi MudCrab,
I'm pretty new to this. How do I find the log?

Just selecting the drive makes no difference. I have taken your advice and simply backed up the partitions but would still like to know what is going on with the initial problem.

Thanks for the help.

Mick

Hi again,
Figured out the log. Created a test backup where I chose to backup partitions I:, F:, and J: with the normal stuff such as "my documents" etc.

Got the same result - all that was backed up was C:\users\my username

Please see log attached.

Thanks

Mick

Hello Mick,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

To resolve the issue please restart Acronis scheduler, it appears that the scheduler service has been installed improperly.

- Download a special Acronis utility;
- Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;
- Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:

schedmgr task zap
schedmgr service stop
schedmgr service uninstall
schedmgr service install
schedmgr service start

This should delete all Acronis tasks on the PC. You should manage your tasks from the scratch. Execute a backup operation and see if the issue remains.

Thank you.

I just installed TI 2010 on my Windows 7. I updated the version by downloading the latest update and installing it. I have the same issue as MikeyJames and more.I selected to backup My data. I checked all file types and checked several folders. As expeted I noticed a check mark on all the sub folders. The total size of the back up was about 120 GB. Acronis TI proceeded with the backup. It took 60 seconds and the file size was a few MB. If it indeed backed up 120 GB in 60 seconds and created a few MB files you should win the Nobel prize in technology. The problem is you are working in an area where any risk of loss od data is a serious issue.

Also, when I checked on the Rectangle next to the Documents issue twice the rectangle disappeared. This is strange and unstable at best.

Now you are suggesting to restart the scheduler or something like that. I am confused. Now I remember why I never felt comfortable using your previous versions.

Again, please explain what am I doing wrong?
