After recovering backup folders, can't delete some

Thread needs solution

After recovering some backup folders to my favorites folder, the url path was missing and unuseable. I tried to delete them, but some folders give me the windows "access denied" message. This occurs only in folders with sub-folders. Folders without sub-folders will allow me to delete the internet shortcuts contained in them, but deletion takes 2-3 seconds per shortcut, even though they are only 1-2 Kb. I am administrator with full rights and permissions. Running windows XP, SP3 and Acronis Home 2010.

Who shows as "Owner" of the folder? These folders wouldn't happen to be tied to Adobe software would they?

Hello Nick and Kenneth!

Thank you for opening the thread and for your comment.

Folders are surely not tied to our software, the issue is with the permissions restored, and we have a solution for it.

When you create the backup of the machine, you backup an account as well. It has its own SID. Once you restore the image, this account has another SID. Therefore you may not have rights to access certain folders or files.

In order to resolve the issue you need to

  1. Restore the files/folders again, but this time on the Choose Restore Options screen of the Recovery wizard select Set the options manually;
  2. Select File level security settings and uncheck the Restore files preserving their security settings option.

I would advise you to take a look at this article for more details.
