Am I Asking The Wrong Questions Here Or Will Acornis Not Work For Me?
Original post was "How can I make a crucial app last indefinitely?"
Hello;
First I hope I'm the the right forum, if not will a moderator please move this post to the correct one.
I use a MS application that cannot be installed and activated after 01/31/2011. It only allows for 2 activations and I'm using one of those now on a XP-Pro System. My objective is to have it up and running on W7 well before the drop dead date. If I were to later lose my OS / app hard drive what is the best way to rebuild / restore this app so I can continue to have access to it indefinitely.
Hardware config is Lenovo T500 Laptop that has 2nd internal HDD or a DVD-RW. I will also have an external USB-2 enclosure for the 2nd HDD. I haven't decided yet to leave Vista installed with W7 dual boot or create a Vista recovery DVD and blow Vista away. This may not be relevant but wasn't sure if multiple partitions would affect a recovery strategy or not. If I have to change my hardware platform in the future I'm hoping that the Universal Restore product can help me move the app at that time. I feel confident that Acronis has an answer to my situation but I wanted to be sure I purchased best product for the job. TIA for any guidance and help.
