Arconis 11 - booting from setup CD, hard drive not recognized + converting into Virtual Machine

Thread needs solution

Hallo,
I using Arconis 11 to convert real machine into virtual machine easily (see file:///D:/VMs/VMware/VMware%20vCenter%20Converter%20Standalone/Help/en/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=GUID-377C42CF-B7EE-4D32-9BC5-D0648050B9AE.html#1_8_8_1), I've never installed the software package.
Unfortunately, the hard drive of a Dell Latidue E6420 is not recognized. I found a lot of workarounds by creating/downloading Acronis Bootable Media. If I do so, will the image still be compatible with the VMWare converter station?

thx

stefan

Hello Stefan Müller,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

You can use Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 to convert any created image backup to a virtual machine. Find all about in our Web help: How to convert a disk backup to a virtual machine.

If your Acronis bootable media does not recognize a drive, you need to create a WinPE based media. You can use this article for creating and see this article for more information about the used drivers.

If you need additional assistance, please contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

ok thx for your reply I will try that as soon as I have some time spare, since I reckon this is not done within a couple of minutes :(
