Authorization error using Remote Console accessing vault on NAS

Thread needs solution

I've had this annoying situation that I'm hoping there's a solution to.

I'm currently running build 17437 of ABR 11. The destination for my backups is to a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ NAS device.

Using the Console on a remote system (which is not running an agent, i.e. unlicensed), the list under "Personal Vaults" shows the error:

Obtain information (credentials required)

If I click one of the personal vault items I get the error:

Authorization has failed. Access to '\\NAS\BackupDir' has been denied. Specify credentials to access \\NAS\BackupDir'

and prompts me for a Username/Password. The strange thing is the username/password I have to use is the NAS administration password.

When I run the Console on the system that was backed up, I do not get this error.

Is there a solution to this when running a remote console?

TIA

Hi Bruce,
Couple of questions that will help me understand the situation better:
1. Are you running the console on both systems under the same user?
2. What is the operating system the agent is installed on (the licensed machine)
3. Do you have a domain?
4. Is your NAS in any way integrated with the domain, if you have it?

Hi Bruce,

Thanks you for the details!
So, provided you don't have domain and integration with it, how is that that the Management Console, when run locally, is able to access the NAS w/o asking for credentials? Is the password you are using on Windows box the same as the one used for accessing the NAS?

Thanks!
