Auto-rebuild using Bootable Media

Thread needs solution

I really like using Acronis, but I am concerned about the lack of ability to automatically restore a computer from a backup image. By that I mean insert the media, be it CD/DVD or USB Flash Drive and have Acronis rebuild the computer without any further user intervention.

I am able to do this using TRUEIMAGECMDDOS, which allows me to add the command-line script to deply an image onto a hdd. This has meant that I am able to rebuild my computer lab or 18 machines running Windows 7, with each computer taking just 5 mins to have a fully functional OS, using a USB flash drive to rebuild the computer using TRUEIMAGECDMDOS.

It would seem that this same feature isn't available in ABR 10, althought mention is made of trueimagecmd, but that only runs in a windows environment.

On reading some threads, it would seem that there are others out there who crave for the same functionality.

Hello John,

Welcome to our forum and thank you for your question. I will do my best to assist you.

You are correct, at the moment trueimagecmd works only in Windows. We also have a similar question in this thread. I will definitely create a Customer Listening Ticket from your request and forward it to our Development team, it appears that this feature would be very useful.

I am not sure if this workaround will suite your needs, but you can try backing up to removable media with the following option enabled: Acronis Bootable Agent and One-Click Restore.

What will happen is that your backup will be placed on removable media from which you can boot our program and perform recovery operations.

One-Click Restore will allow you to work in Windows while the recovery operation is still in progress. You can also read more about on page 100 of our User Guide available here.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
