Backup and restore Workstation 10 + universal restore
Since installing B&R 10 with Universal Restore, I have had a problem with not being able to create bootable media successfully despite the dialog box telling me it had been successul. Also I was unable to actually download the application thro the account login registed products page, all I got when clicking on download was a white screen. The only way I could get a download was to download the trial version and then use the purchased licence key , I think this may have caused the problems originally, Has there been a problem with the account login webpage or is there any other reason I cannot download again from the account login webpage. Having been trying for a week since purchase I am no nearer successfully using the main constituents of this Workstation . Any help gratefully received. Acronis this is not helpful.

Hi. I am having a very similar problem. And it has become costly.
I will start with what's wrong now and then take it from the top as I think the problem occurred because your check-out mechanism on the website is flawed:
Problem: My big one... I look back at my receipt from the non-Advanced purchase and there is no license provided for the Universal Restore component. That is a website error on the part of Acronis: Here's why:
Note, the following happens every time (so its a repeatable error); try it!
1. After one logs in to Acronis.com and heads over the the "Product Update" page, a page based on our registered and licensed products, we have the option to upgrade.
2. However, ATI 10 an ATI 11 only provide an upgrade page to ATI 2010 (fine) and ATI 9.1 and 9.5 only provide an upgrade path to ABR10 WS, ADVANCED EDITION (also fine... I even bought it even though I "can't install the license server on this Operating System.")
3. SO... my only option was to go to the page that non-upgraders use to purchase products... the main product page. Low and behold, right below the "Add to Cart", "Buy" and "Trial" buttons were two radio buttons:
A. Upgrade, which I obviously checked
and
B. Add Universal Restore, which I also checked.
4. I proceeded to check-out but never received the Universal Restore component.
So....
5. I returned to your website (yet again) to spend yet more money to purchase Univeral Restore for the non-ADVANCED edition of ABR WS and it is nowhere to be found.
6. The heart of the matter, as a test, I went back to purchase the non-advanced version, checked "add universal restore", but purposely did *not* check the "upgrade" radio button. The result, a Shopping Cart that had three things that were not present when I checked "upgrade"
First... it had a separate entry for the Univ. Restore component
Second... it had a statment that Univ. Restore is "included" at no charge, BUT
but but but
Third... the price went from 47 USD to 93 USD, presumably because I failed to check "upgrade"
At this point, I stopped throwing money at this madness.
First of all, I am entitled to the upgrade, yet there is no way to reach it from my "Product upgrade" page, "registered product page", or even the regular product website because on that site, choosing "Upgrade" prevents you from getting a license for Univeral Restore, despite the radio button to the contrary.
**I have a little problem with being misled into thinking the "ADVANCED" version of the Workstation Edition would work on non-server OSes (and losing that 146 dollars).
**I have even less of a problem that the non-Advanced Edition of Workstation will not accept my more expensive license purchased with the Advanced version.
**I have no problem with having to pay 47 USD as I did, for the non-Advanced version.
**Nor would I have had a problem paying 15-30 USD more for the Universal Restore component.
But after all that, I have a **HUGE** problem with the fact that the *only* way possible for me to obtain a copy of the UR component for my copy of thee non-Advanced WS edition of ABR 10 is to pretend that I am not entitled to an upgrade, and proceed to checkout yet another copy of ABR10 WS non-Advanced wtih Univ. Restore for 93 USD!!!
6. Put another way, we upgraders cannot properly implement the non-Advanced Workstation from you website without abandoning the benefit of our upgrade discount.
In fact, not only did I lose my discount, but I have now spent 200 USD on two products that I cannot use, one of which includes the Universal Restore and De-duplication components but won't install, and one that will install (barely) but lacks the Univ. Restore component.
Acronis, please help me fix this

Hello Louis,
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused by our web system. I will submit a request to the appropriate department, the sales algorithm should be improved.
Problem: My big one... I look back at my receipt from the non-Advanced purchase and there is no license provided for the Universal Restore component. That is a website error on the part of Acronis:
I logged in to your account, the following Upgrade licenses and orders can be found in our database:
1) Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Upgrade;
2) Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Universal Restore Upgrade;
3) Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Deduplication;
4) Acronis Backup&Recovery Workstation Upgrade.
You can download the installation files and find the serial numbers after logging in to your account. Sorry, that Acronis Universal license wasn't mentioned in the receipt.

Louis, I don't know why Acronis Universal Restore for Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation wasn't included from the very beginning, but when you place an order repeatedly, you should remove Internet cache files from your browser. Or you should untick the undesired boxes in your shopping cart. Acronis Universal Restore can be purchased separately on this page.
I am unable to find any records in our database about Acronis Universal Restore for Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation, please check your card, most probably, it hasn't been charged. Otherwise, please let me know about via Private Message, we will take care of it.

You are able to purchase Acronis Universal Restore for Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation on this page, but first of all you should decide what you want to do with Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Upgrade licenses.
In fact, not only did I lose my discount, but I have now spent 200 USD on two products that I cannot use, one of which includes the Universal Restore and De-duplication components but won't install, and one that will install (barely) but lacks the Univ. I will do my best to help you, but could you please confirm that I understood you correctly?
You need:
1) Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation Upgrade (1 license);
2) Acronis Universal Restore for Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation Upgrade (1 license);
You don't need:
1) Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Upgrade;
2) Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Universal Restore Upgrade;
3) Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Deduplication;
If this correct? Please post a response in this thread and let me know about it via Private Message.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions.
Thank you.

1st: Yes, you are 100% correct, and somehow understood my problem exactly. Which is a miracle, by the way, since I had no idea what was going on and somehow managed to communicate it to you... in a rant, no lesss. Basically, the "Advanced" versions of B&R are unnecessary for my needs, yet I prefer the B&R line over the True Image Home line for several reasons, such as more frequent hardware support updates and an aversion to extra services like "Try and Decide."
2nd: Apologies for the delay in my response as all of the confusion had me avoiding B&R Advance altogether... and using B&R WS only on occasion ... not a good thing considering it needs to be protecting my work computer.
3rd: Profuse apologies for the rant. B&R was such a drastic departure from True Image Workstation, which along with DD10 stopped working on Windows 7, placed my data in jeopardy and my frustrations with Acronis was at an all time high. I even began testing other solutions after years of loyalty to Acronis. You (and anyone else who read my rant) should know that I could not find a solution preferable to Acronis.
Last, though you nailed my problem on the head, I understand that 13 weeks have passed by and I can't expect a refund on the "Advanced" products that we agree I don't need. However, I never did get the correct license for the version of Universal Restore I am using. So, would it be possible to simply "trade" my Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation Universal Restore Upgrade (1 license, already purchased) for Acronis Universal Restore for Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation Upgrade (1 license, never purchased)? I ask because it seems to me (and I could be wrong) that Universal Restore is discounted when purchased *at the same time as* B&R, but that ship has sailed for me as I already purchased Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation Upgrade (1 license)... (if you recall, I had also checked the box to upgrade Univ. Restore, but never got it... whether I actually paid for it is unclear from my receipt because I don't know the percent of the discount offered (it wasn't listed) and, as you noted, I purchased the Upgrade so I had no way of knowing Universal Restore was included in my already-discounted price for B&R. In other words, you'd know better than me if my receipt include the Universal Restore upgrade license for the non-advanced B&R WS, should you decide that swapping licenses (by deactivating my Universal Restore license for the Advnanced version and providing one that works with the non-advanced version) is unfair.
Thank you.
