Backup of Buffalo LinkStation to Mybook

Thread needs solution

Using Acronis True Image Home 2009, checked for current builds, builds are current, running Windows Vista Home premium, service pack 2, 2gb memory.

While attempting to backup my network drive, Buffalo LinkStation, to MyBook, getting an error message when accessing /share folder, claim folder is corrupted and does not seem to recoginze it. The error log file is attached. I bought this software with the hope of backing up my network drive to mybook and then storing for safe keeping, hoping I can make that happen.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hello William,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

To resolve the issue please do the following:

- Map the drive by computer name by using a batch file. For complete instructions see Saving an Image to a Mapped Drive from an Acronis Backup Task Fails Sporadically;

- Create shorter folder names (e.g., less than eight characters in a name) on the NAS. The product may fail to recognize longer folder names;

- Try disabling authentication on the NAS (i.e., grant everyone access to the drive).

Please see this article for more information.

Also I would recommend you to set the appropriate permissions to the NAS folders. The list of the necessary permissions is available in this article. It describes on how to set the permissions from within Windows, but you can use the tables available in this article to manage the correct settings on your NAS.

Please let us know the results. Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.
