Backup error on event

Thread needs solution

Acronis should start the backup when the PC is shutting down, this is done by creating an event on shutdown. Acronis starts on that event but fails and the error below is seen in the windows event log.
I'm running on the latest release (25th of July).

Why the backup fails and seeing the above error?

In the one before the recent update ( in U0.5 iirc ) the behavior was changed - Acronis doesn't block system shutdown if backup is in progress. Instead it terminates the backup and lets the system shut down. It's can be changed to the 'old style' in Options->Machine options->Additional settings.

I've done that already. Options->Machine->Additional settings-> wait for task completion selected.

Hello Johan,

Thank you for posting your Question in our forum.

As dev-anon correctly told you, Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 does not stop the system shutdown. Unfortunately, there is no way within the software to work around the problem.

Instead you can create a backup job and define in post-command a shutdown command. So your backup runs and after the backup the machine is been shutting down in the post command. While running the post command, the planned validation after a backup cannot be performed. Instead run your validation then before the backup job is done. You will find a sample in this article (written for Acronis Backup & Recovery 10, but work also in Acronis Backup & Recovery 11) from our Knowledge Base. Find more information about in our Online Help.

On the other hand, you can perform the backup during the normal work day. There is also the lunch break, that is a good time to run the daily backup (as I do regularly).

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

It's a pitty that, the option has been removed. I would like it that a backup runs whenever I shutdown the PC.

What I do now is, I let the backup started at the event of logoff once the backup is finished it will execute a shutdown command to shut the PC off.

Johan.
