Backup to external drive 20gig smaller than ...

Thread needs solution

I really tried to find this simple answer, but got lost in the myriad of information in the knowledge base, and in the forums.

I'm simply wondering, why my backup to my external 500gig seagate goflex is about 70gig ... and the space used on my main C: drive is about 90gig ?

Thanks

Because of compression. 70 - 80% of original size is somewhat normal for executable files.
