Backup External HD Size

Thread needs solution

I recently had to replace my failing 150GB HDD with a 1 TB HDD.

My external HD that I have been backing up my full computer to is only 150 GB.

I can't back up the I TB HDD any longer, even though it contains only about 60 GB of info. I get an "operation failed" message.

Probably a dumb question, but must I get a I TB GB external HD to do a full computer backup also? Or is there some way to back up to a smaller HD?

Using Acronis TI 10.0, XP MCE/sp3

Edit: The error message I get is:

E00640067: Failed to run the task

Failed to execute the task script. Error #2 - "The system cannot find the file specified (0xFFF0)
code = 80070002
Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8A6".

You shouldn't need to use a larger drive than the image file requires. In your case, there shouldn't be a problem saving a 60GB image to a 150GB drive assuming it has 60GB of free space on it.

Do you get the same error if you try to create the backup image when booted to the TI CD?

I assume you're using the latest build of TI 10 (4,942) as posted in your other thread.
