Can i backup(take and image) of a linux OS, say a server one.

I would imagine it would take the image (maybe not) but if it does, what would happen when the image was loaded back onto a pc, how would the hardware be detected etc...

Actually i am guessing that Acronic backup & Recovery with UR won't work with Linuyx.??

Thank you for your questions and let me help you with it.

We surely have a solution for backing up Linux machine: Acronis Backup and Recovery Server for Linux. The hardware is detected by the product's kernel, so recovery works perfectly fine.

Should you need to recover onto the dissimilar hardware you won't need Acronis Universal Restore, you can actually do it manually, we have a good article with the detailed instructions, so feel free to check it!
