Backup & Recovery 10 Agent fails with RPC server error

Thread needs solution

When installing B&R 10 on a laptop with Windows XP SP3, the installation fails when trying to install the first package, the Agent. It rolls back the install. I have downloaded and run the abr_cleanup.exe program and rebooted. This is the exact error displayed. Both of the RPC services are started and running.

I tried to attach the msi log file but got a javascript error three times and gave up.

Hello Mark,

Thank you for posting and welcome to our forum. I will definitely assist you with this.

If I am not mistaken, this is an error message from a failed backup, although you mentioned installation issues.

In any case, I will send you a private message in a few minutes with an ftp link, do you think you could upload the two reports that can help us resolve this problem?

1. AcronisInfo report.

2. Msi log.

Just in case, you can always contact our Support team directly if you need immediate assistance.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Loick,

Thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with resolving this issue.

Mark's installation was failing on the CEP component. It is a little application that collects user information which helps us to improve the software. When installing the program, simply select not to participate in the CEP program and I am certain that the installation will succeed.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

That was not my problem, I tried without participate in the CEP program. Actually, Kaspersky was the problem. I desactivated it and the installation worked !

Thank your for your answer.

Loick.

Ps: sorry if my english is bad, I'm french and I don't speak english fluently ;)

Kaspersky was the problem on my end as well. I stopped the services and re-ran the installation, worked fine
