Backup windows 2008 server (SQL file servers)

Thread needs solution

I have a few windows 2008 servers (HP proliant). I can not find the windows CD's. I backup the DB and everything. But I am looking for solution that can help me do a full backup/image of the HD. I would like to copy the image to a remote server, which is designated for backups.
If the server crashed, I would like to be able to do a network boot (or other method) and connect to the remote server to grab the image and restore my server.

I have used Ghost before to image workstations and keep image on remote server. It won't work for servers however. It is a pain in the neck to use. I had to manually look for dos drivers to be able to do a network boot.

So I am looking for an alternative software, and someone mentioned Acronis. My question is:

What is the best software I shoould by that would do the job, without being too expensive.
This is a simple standlaone backups and copy to remote servers. Nothing fancy. Something that I would do once a month. The servers are setup as RAID 1, and they are not virtualized.

Please advice,

Hi techzone12

As you have a Windows 2008 Server you will need to look at the ABR11 Server product range. Either Standard or Advanced Editions, if you have an SBS server there is a discounted version available (SBS is actually the advanced edition but you need to be running a MS Windows SBS server for it to work)

The standard versions you can think of as a standalone version were you have to connect to each machine, setup the backup tasks..etc..etc..
The advanced versions lets you connect remotely and manage a range of agents together as well as giving you the ability to push out backup tasks to groups of servers..etc.

A Nice quick comparison can be found at the following URL:

You can also download a trial version of all Acronis software to have a play around with for 15 days to see if you like it and ensure it will do what you are after but from the sounds of things it’s exactly what you are looking for.
