Bootable rescue Wizard produces different outputs

Thread needs solution

I just have downloaded your software and am trying it right now.

First I want to create a Bootable Rescue disk using the Wizard. I skipped the "Bootable media startup parameters" as I have no clue as to "Command-line parameters" means.

(1) I did it first the "normal way" i.e by directly burning on a CD-R(80Mb) : what I get is no file in the root, just a folder called "Recovery Manager" containing only 7 files (37.4Mb): (image 1)

(2) When trying an ISO image, I just get a big ISO file (74Mb), which when burned (by Nero v7) onto CD, is a zip file, identical to the ISO when unzipped. Can one boot on an ISO file ??.

(3) Lastly I got the Wizard to create the file on a USB key. This time, I get, in addition to the "Recovery Manager", a dozen files which look more like something bootable (and they are in the root). But of course I have no clue if this is enough. Total = 51.4Mb : (image 2)

Can you tell me what's going on, and if the (3) is OK ? Leo Notenboom (who recommended your soft) was talking about 65Mb of files.

How can I verify if the bootable disc is really bootable ?

{Windows XP(media Center Ed.) SP3}

Hello Domino,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

The only way to check the functionality of Acronis Bootable Media is to boot the system from Acronis Bootable Media.

Acronis Bootable Media is based on the Linux operating system and uses Linux drivers for getting access to all hardware devices. That's why you are unable to view its' content by means of Windows Explorer.

If you want to create Acronis Bootable Media using ISO file, you should use an option something like Burn ISO to a CD disk, this option is present practically in all burning programs. Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.

About flash drives. If you are unable to create a bootable USB flash drive by Acronis Media Builder, you can use SYSLINUX loader for these purposes.  Please see this article  for information on how to do it.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
