BOOTMGR is missing

Thread needs solution

I'm building a replacement PC based upon the ASUS P8Z68-V LX motherboard using a OCZ 120GB Agility 3 SSD. From experience, I've learnt to test Acronis with new hardware before I need it as things change so all this system currently has is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Acronis B&R v11.0.17437 which I believe is the current version.

Simple backup of the SSD including the MBR, system reserved partition and operating system partition to another local HDD.

Restore triggered from Windows using the default restore options (it works out what to put where) which requires a reboot.

Restore goes ahead but system now cannot boot: the infamous BOOTMGR is missing.

There's no huge rush to get this new system built so I've got time to investigate this. Ohh - this motherboard appears to be using the UEFI BIOS and Acronis reports it's loading a different version to normal - I assume the EUFI version.

Any ideas where to start?

Cheers, Rob.

Actually, in this case, the answer was relatively simple. This has never worked before but it did this time ;-) I booted off the Windows 7 DVD and carried out a repair. Voila - working system again.

Interested though in why B&R leaves it in such a state as requiring a repair.

Cheers, Rob.
