B&R 10 and TI 2009

Thread needs solution

I was wondering, if I create a disk image with Backup and Recovery 10, can it be restored with TI 2009? I have a special mustangpe disk with TI 2009 and would like to keep on using it after buying B&R 10.

Nope! They have two different tib file formats unfortunately.

Damn... this is a problem, I'm about to upgrade to Windows 7 (I have a Technet subscription) but True Image 2009 doesn't work well with it, it seems, so I wanted to switch to B&R 10.

It worked OK apart from mounting an image with RC1, but I know some firewall programs that worked with RC1 fail on the RTM, so this could also be the case with programs like TI.

Plus of course the RTM version might not be the same version by the time the public release occurs in October.

Actually I think the public release will be the same as the RTM, doesn't RTM mean "Released to manufacturing" or something? Any bugs will be fixed with 0-day patches I think.

As far as I know the RTM goes to OEM's and Developers with tweaks being made until the general release version is available on the 22nd October.

No it is the final version. All tweaks are applied via Windows Update. I just asked on Technet forums.

Anyway, I'll try True Image on the RTM, see how it goes.

If you have build 7600 Gold that is as close to the final version as you will get. True Image 2009 build 9796 works fine with it.

Hello Cooper,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/ | Acronis True Image Home 2009]]

At the moment, the following Acronis products can be installed on Windows 7:

• Acronis True Image Home 2010 Beta
• Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Family

However, the correct operation is not guaranteed since Windows 7 is still in the development stage. We are planning to release updates for our current products to fully support Microsoft Windows 7 as it becomes available.

As workaround you can create Acronis True Image bootable disc using Media Builder within the program (Acronis True Image Home 2009) and use it for backup/restore purposes.
