Can Acronis VSS be used when backing up a Windows 7 box?
Acronis B & R 11 Advanced Server
I keep getting the following errors when I perform a backup of a Windows 7 x64 machine:

I’ve searched the forum and KB but I could not find an answer to the following question:
Why do I get these errors when backing up Window 7 but not when backing up Windows Server 2003?
The Acronis installer installed an additional service on the Windows Server 2003 machine. It’s named "Acronis VSS Provider". This service was not installed on the Windows 7 box and it’s not an option that can be selected when installing Acronis or when repairing an install on a Windows 7 Box.
Is this service necessary when using Acronis’s default VSS settings? Is there a way to add this service to a Windows 7 box?
If I change the VSS settings from ‘Hardware/software - Select automatically’ to ‘Software - System provider’, I no longer get those errors but according to this article (http://kb.acronis.com/content/1681), Acronis True Image must start VSS snapshot creation through ‘Acronis VSS provider’ to capture the moment when all VSS writers freeze and databases are ready for backup. But this article (http://kb.acronis.com/content/22373) says you can use Microsoft VSS instead of Acronis VSS.
Why would one want to use Microsoft VSS instead of Acronis VSS? It seems to me that Acronis VSS should be used.
Is Acronis VSS not an option for Windows 7 machines?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff
