can a dual boot W7 system be created by using one full image on two partitions?

Thread needs solution

I have recently come to realise I need a dual booting Windows 7 system. That is two versions of Windows 7 on seperate partitions.

I have a full disk backup of the original install.

Is it as simple as creating a partition and then simply cloning the image there? Or is it like everything else with Windows 7, not as simple as you might first think?

Thanks
