Can SBS image to a drive name regardless of the drive letter - Command line OK

Thread needs solution

Since I didn't get much love on my post about backup, let me try something else.

If I were to use an EXTERNAL USB DRIVE and name the drive MONDAY, would ACRONIS be able to create an image on the drive, via command line, to the drive name without regard for the drive letter?

I am trying to create a backup routine for my server that will allow me to create bootable system should I have drive failure in the server. If Acronis SBS can image to a drive name I can write a small batch file that will run Acronis via command line, image the server drive, and then remove/eject the drive at the end of the process.

But, it would be much easier if Acronis can image to a drive name, rather than a drive letter.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Dario,

Thank you for your interest in [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

You are unable to tie a backup task to a a drive name. I propose you another way to perform the desired operation, please look at it and let me know what do you think or why it doesn't satisfy you.

I suggest you to create a simple backup plan specifying the external hard drive as a destination for the backup operation. In the default backup options (Backup options -> Additional settings) mark Dismount media after backup has finished box.

This will provide you with same functionality you want to manage.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you.
