Cannot clone a disk - very frustrating.
Hello:
Just bought a copy of Restore Recovery 10 yesterday. Bought so I can image my laptop disk to another disk (larger). I used the Disk Mgmt - Clone to image disk to disk. It goes through the process till it error's out.
I have tried all the things that I could think off and kept trying and still getting errors. Please advise.
My laptop config...
Thinkpad X200s on a dock w/ secondary bay drive w/ a brand new sata 320g 7000rpm drive. (much larger than the current active volumes)
Laptop is partitioned to 2 drives, which is the Sys and DATA, both as NTFS and running on Win7.
- Chkdsk /f been done on both partitions.
Below is the error message:

Hello all,
Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
Royce,
Temporarily detach any USB storage device that is plugged in. Perform the cloning or restore with the USB storage device detached.
If you have an inbuilt card reader, then disable it through Windows Device Manager:
- Hit Win-R to get to the command prompt;
- Type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter;
- In the Device Manager window locate your card reader (it probably starts with letters SD, MMC etc);
- Right-click on the card reader and select Disable.
Also, as a workaround, you can try performing the same operation from Acronis Bootable Media. You can learn more about it in this article. If you choose Acronis Bootable Media, you do not need to have an operating system and an Acronis product installed on the new drive.
The important point to remember (already mentioned by DwnNDrty) is that you need to put the new drive in the laptop first, and connect the old one via USB. Only after this you may do the cloning. Otherwise you will not be able to boot from the new cloned drive.
Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.
