Cannot install Acronis agent remotely.

Thread needs solution

Hi I'm using a trial version of Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 and I'm planining to install an agent remotely to a desktop. When I go to Remote Installation Wizard, I selected "From the registered components" and then hit next, I got "Failed to find the registered Arconis components". In the console server, I could find the component (\\Programs Files\Common Files\Acronis\RemoteInstall\acroinst) but somehow it doesn't recognize it. Please advise....

Hello Sir,

Thank you for posting, I will be happy to help you.

Most probably, the issue is related to the failed access to the extracted components. To resolve the issue please check that the below settings:

1) For successful installation on a remote machine running any Windows XP version, the option Control panel -> Folder options -> View -> Use simple file sharing must be disabled on that machine.

2) For successful installation on a remote machine running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows 2003 Server, the option Control panel -> Windows Firewall -> Exceptions -> File and Printer Sharing must be enabled on that machine.

3) Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 uses TCP ports 445 and 25001 for remote installation. Make sure that these ports are added to exceptions in the firewall settings on the remote machines.

4) If the remote machines are members of an Active Directory domain and use no firewall other than Windows Firewall, you can add TCP port 25001 to exceptions by using Group Policy. On a domain controller, create a Group Policy object, then go to Administrative Templates -> Network -> Network Connections ->Windows Firewall -> Domain Profile -> Windows Firewall: Define port exceptions, and then add the following port exception:

- 25001:tcp:*:enabled:Acronis remote install

- TCP port 445 is added to exceptions automatically by Windows Firewall when you enable File and Printer Sharing.

Also I suggest you to extract the components manually (Launch the product installation file; once the Acronis product installation screen appears, select Extract components) and save the files to any folder on the remote machine. Wait for the process to be completed, run the installation again and specify the path to this folder manually during the installation.

Please let us know the results. Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

It works perfectly on windows XP
What about windows 7... i cannot make it work in windows 7 the remote install...
i even got the firewall off to see if it was the firewall but its not... its something else im missing
Got turn on the sharing file and also the network discovery
What else im missing?

Yes it works perfectly on Windows XP, but not with Windows 7.
I also checked the firewall setting. But it doesn`t work.
And to make the installation or upgrade on all workstations manually is not possible.

Can you help me please?

Edit: OK, i made the installation local and i found out the problem was the old Acronis B&S installation. First i have had to deinstall the old version an then to install the new one. But i have some other Windows 7 machines. So i hope you can help me with my problem!
