Cannot load archive image from NAS drive

Thread needs solution

Prior to trying to upgrade to Windows7 I made an image of my Vista laptop and archived it to my NAS drive. The log reports the backup was succesful, and that the archive is validated OK. [NB. I'm using True Image 11 Home build 8,101].
The Win7 upgrade has gone all pear shaped, so I'm now trying to restore my backup using the restore CD, (created from 8,101), but I cannot see my NAS drive at all, (even using the //192.168.2.101/share/etc.... notation). I've set to network parameters correctly, and I do get the 'computers near me' item, but with no computers listed. I've tried various Googled suggestions, but with not joy so far. First question; is there anything else I can try to enable my laptop to see my NAS drive when booted from the recovery CD?

Anyway, on to step 2...
In order to try and get at the data by other means I copied the 34GB .tib archive file from my NAS onto an external USB disk, and plugged that into my laptop. The TI restore CD declares that archive to be corrupt, and so can't restore from it. [NB validating the backup archive with TI on another PC does indeed seem to indicate that it is corrupt, and that the NAS drive version is NOT corrupt - however trying to copy again from the NAS to the external USB drive keeps ending up with a corrupt copy] - Question 2; any idea why this should be, or is there any special way of copying a large .tib file?

Hello PepperT,

Thank you very much for your post. I would like to apologise for the delay and I want to assist you in resolving this issue.

I can recommend to try the recovery CD based on ISOLINUX from our latest version of Acronis True Image 2010 Home. It supports images created with Acronis True Image 11 Home and has more updated hardware drivers. ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the one based on Acronis Loader. This is due to the fact, that a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released. I suggest this KB article if you are interested in more details. This article also explains how to get this ISO and how to burn it to a CD/DVD.

Unfortunately I cannot suggest you a way to copy a large .tib file. However, you can try using a checksum calculator to compare the checksums. If they are different, then the file is corrupt. Sometimes, it is possible for some packets to get lost and making the file corrupt.

You can download the checksum calculator and instructions for it from our Knowledge Base article.

We also have a troubleshooting guide for corrupt backups, it is available here.

If you can get back to me in case you have additional questions I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.
