'Cannot resolve inclusion rule [BOOT] - clients will not backup
I'm using ABR 11 build 17437 with 13 clients installed at present. 3 of the 13 are failing to back up to the managed centralized vault, and all three are reporting the following in the event log:
Cannot resolve inclusion rule '[BOOT]'.
Cannot resolve inclusion rule '[SYSTEM]'.
(full details of each event posted below).
Clients are grouped into folders of 2-3 clients each, and each folder has a backup plan assoctated with it (settings are identical in each backup plan with the exception of start times.). Clients under the same plan will work fine, while one in the group reports these errors. At least one of the three problem machines was backing up properly about two weeks ago and then started to report the error.
On one of the problem machines, I have tried uninstalled the client, running abr_cleanup, then reinstalling the agents - no change.
Any ideas anybody??!
Thanks,
JDC

I have the same issue on two Win7 machines. Is there any solution or you want to collect logs and send them?

Hello Jan,
Yes, I will need the same set of information (SnapAPI logs + System report) as described in teh above post.
Thank you,

Hello Jan,
I was able to open the archive and check the data you provided.
And I know what the problem is in your case.
To begin with, as per the following documentation article and table : http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#2710.ht…
"Operating systems starting from Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 create a dedicated system volume called System Reserved. If you select [SYSTEM], only this dedicated volume will be backed up. Always select both [SYSTEM] and [BOOT] when backing up machines running these operating systems. "
In the disk report which you have provided, I was only able to find two large volumes with data, and there were no that 100 MB "System Reserved" partition, so that is why the [SYSTEM] and [BOOT] rules cannot be resolved.
It looks like you pre-partitioned the drive prior to install Windows, and all the boot information is now stored on your primary volume (C:\).
Example, on how that can be done is shown here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/hack-to-remove-100-mb-system-reserved-par…
Let me know if there is something else I can do for you.

Hmm, thank you very much for there informations but it is not that case.
The machine I've send you report has one disk, two patitions (SYSTEM - C: and DATA - D:). In backup plan I have selected [BOOT] and [SYSTEM] and in backup log is that it is not possible to math any partition with pattern [SYSTEM] and another entry that it is not possible to match any partition with pattern [BOOT]. When I add "C:\" to backup plan backup is successfully created.
Do you want logs from more computers? (same issue occurs on 4 cumputer from 9)
Thank you for your time!

Hello Jan,
Yes, this is correct, because neither of two volumes on the disk do not comply with [BOOT] or [SYSTEM] rule.
So the behavior is expected. In order to backup separate volume, you should select volume rule (like you did - "C:\" ) or, if you want to backup whole disk - [Disk 1].
Please check that on all other Windows 7 machines "System reserved" partition is also missing. Also, on the machines, where [BOOT] and/or [SYSTEM] rule works - you will find that separate "System reserved" partition.

Ok, now I understand where is a problem... It is exactly you described.
But I don't think it my mistake. I didn't done any hacking with deleting "System reserved". When installation asked me, if I want to create that, a clicked no, because I know that it is needed just only for BitLocker and I don't need BitLocker. And I still don't understand why my first primary partion on wich is system and wich is bootable Acronis don't recognize and bootable and system. Is it known bug? Please can you describe, how Acronis recognize wich volume is [BOOT] and wich is [SYSTEM]? (I've already read manual, but must in diferent way otherwise it should work)
By the way, not all systems create "system reserved" partition (e.g.: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/290050-14-system-reserved-created-w…) - why is that partition required?
One of 4 PCs is HP preinstalled so there was no way how to influence creating that partion. Is there any way how to get working recognizing of system and boot partition or I have to reinstall that system?
Thank you again!

After upgrading to Acronis B&R 11.5 problem gone. Now [SYSTEM] and [BOOT] is recognized as expected even if there is no "system reserved" partition. Thank you for your time!
