Change port 9876

Thread needs solution

Is there any way to change the Acronis remote agent 9876 port to use another port number? I have conflicting software using the same port number.

Thanks.

Hello Ken!

Thank you for finding time to open the thread regarding this question! I understand how inconvenient the situation is, and will be glad to help you.

You can surely change the default port Agent uses for interaction with the rest of the product components. This can be done though the Administrative Templates.

The Administrative Template, provided by Acronis, enables the fine-tuning of some security related features, including encrypted communication settings. Through the Microsoft Group Policy mechanism, the template policy settings can be applied to a single computer as well as to a domain.

To load the Acronis Administrative Template

  1. Run Windows Group Policy Objects Editor (%windir%\system32\gpedit.msc.)
  2. Open the Group Policy object (GPO) you want to edit.
  3. Expand Computer Configuration.
  4. Right click Administrative Templates.
  5. Click Add/Remove Templates.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Browse to Acronis Administrative Template (\Program files\Common Files\Acronis\Agent\Acronis_agent.adm or \Program files\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole\Acronis_agent.adm), and click Open.
Once the template is loaded, you can open it and edit the desired settings. After loading the template or editing its settings, you should restart the configured component(s) or some of their services.

For more details please see User's Guide, p. 342.

Ok, so I can change the remote agent Port, but how do I add the machine to AMS? It keeps saying "Cannot Establish Connection."

I know, this thread ist too old, but actually i have the same problem with Acronis Backup & Restore 11.5. When i changed the port of Agent with GPO (to port 39876 in my case). How it is posible to add client computer with Acronis Agent to Acronis Management Server through Acronis Management Console. I tried add to AMS with "IPadress:AgentPort" (192.168.1.100:39876), but it did not work -> "Cannot Establish Connection."

My network situation:

Acronis Server is in one network (10.150.1.0), Acronis Agent is in the other network behind NAT/router (router WAN IP 10.150.1.10, LAN IP 192.168.1.1) with IP 192.168.1.100. In router-NAT i have set port forwarding from WAN interface to port 39876 -> forward to IP 192.168.1.100, to port 39876 (Agent).

Hello John,

Thank you for your posting! Please take a look at the following article:

Acronis Backup Advanced: Configuring Communication between Components Placed behind NAT

Thank you!

Hello,

thank you for link to the KB, but my problem is a bit different. I have many Acronis Agents behing NAT, so i need to use another port (one unique port for each agent) than 9876 for communication between agent and AMS.

I also have a support ticket with number 02720922.

Did you ever find out how to do this?

Thanks David

Hi David,

yes and NO :-) I had to use 1:1 NAT instead of Ports Forwarding.

Acronis Management Server refuses to communicate with Acronis Agents by using other than the default port 9876.

John

Hi John,

A shame that there's no proper inbuilt way to do this. I like the idea of 1:1 NAT, will give that a go :)

Thanks for your reply, David
