Client to push backup job to ABR server

Hi,
We have existing backup copies on a LUN; 2 full and 4 incrementals. Last 2 days the ABR server is unable to sync with the ABR Client, with an error, remote connection is disabled. I was advised to update to the latest build, but for the mean time I need to have the backup jobs running.

My question is, can I create a new incremental backup job on the client PC and write the backup job to the LUN with existing backup copies? Will the new incremental backup job, continue from the existing incremental copies? Please advise. thanks!
