Cloning image into multiple DVDs

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I am wonder if Acronis is able to perform the following:
1. Clone a 20GB PC image (for example) into 5 pieces of DVD
2. When restoring, sequence of restoring should start from Disc 1 to Disc 5 (end)

Is there any where I can read up on this?

Anyone faces the same issue before?

Thanks in advance.

First off I would not trust backing upto DVD’s, I’ve found them to be generally unreliable. If you need to get this done for whatever reason (and hopefully it’s for short term use and not long term!) so be it, however I would advise against using DVD’s as your backup medium.

Also the term “Clone” in Acronis generally refers to cloning one HDD to another HDD, the option you are looking for is what Acronis call “Backup”. This will allow you to do what you are after.

You can use the archive split feature that will create the image file and after xxx MB or xxx GB will split the archive and start a new one, then you can burn the files to DVD’s and get Acronis to restore from them at a later date.

Extra details can be found in the ABR11 manual if required:
