Cloning laptop - no cd drive, no pxe boot.

Thread needs solution

Got B+R10 installed on server which is network connected to this laptop.

Laptop is clamped down so installing agent would be difficult. Also, it has no CD drive so cant boot from CD (USB CD drive doesnt work either).

I can, however, boot from floppy and map a network drive on the server. Or I can map a drive when booted into windows.

Whats the best way to make a backup? Run backup remotely?

Hello Paul,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Could you please explain what clamped down means? Why is it difficult to install Agent?

You can place the standalone version of the program onto a flash drive and backup the notebook. Please see the article Starting Acronis Product from USB flash drive on how to create a bootable flash drive.

Please note that according to Acronis software licensing policy, you should purchase one copy of Acronis program per each machine it will be used with.

As far as I can see in our database, you are an owner of the Acronis Backup&Recovery Workstation license. Please note that only the Advanced versions of Acronis Backup&Recovery (for example, Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation) allow to manage the computers remotely.

Thank you.
