Compatibility issue with new Microsoft Security Essentials and Acroninis Home Backup 10?

Thread needs solution

My incremental system backup using Acronis True Image Home 2010 has been failing for the past three days. I am not completely sure, but I think the beginning of the failures coincided with my installation of the new Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus software.

The error log in Acronis reads:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

I see mention of "blank passwords not allowed". I don't have a master password on my computer. Might this be the problem? (I am the only user of this machine and prefer not to employ yet another unnecessary password.

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Since the entire log file is unavailable in the description, from what you have told I assume that the backup operation has failed because of the wrong credentials for the scheduled task execution.

Please re-start Acronis scheduler, it appears that the scheduler service works improperly. 

- Download a special Acronis utility;
- Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;
- Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:

schedmgr task zap
schedmgr service stop
schedmgr service uninstall
schedmgr service install
schedmgr service start

This should delete all Acronis tasks on the PC. You should manage your tasks from the scratch. Execute a backup operation and see if the issue remains.

If the issue persists, please provide us with the entire log file of the failed operation:

- Launch the program;
- Tasks and logs, Log;
- Choose the log entry which contains errors and make right-click on it;
- Select save option and specify the desired location for the log file to save to;
- Send us the log.
Also please provide us the the exact version of your operating system.
