could not choose unallocated space to recover the volume

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I try to restore my backup into VM (ESXi), but I could not choose the unallocated space to recover.

My physical production IBM server with C:\72GB hdd [OS] and E:\600GB hdd [Data].
Actually the used is C:\12GB hdd and E:\200GB hdd, so Im using v11345 to backup with exception folder (skip folder with E:\180GB hdd).

To recover, assume that I only need to allocate VM hdd for C:\15GB and E:\25GB. I managed to recover OS on C: drive, but I cant choose unallocated space E:\25GB hdd to recover.

To get it work, I try on large space (438GB hdd) ESXi server, and allocated E:\256GB hdd, its work. Why must I allocated E:\256GB hdd just for 20GB data? Why the allocated space (256GB) must larger then actual usage space (200GB)?

Thanks!

Hello Alvin,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

The exact reason of the malfunction is unknown and if you want to give the issue a closer investigation, please contact our Live chat service, our chat operators will do their best to help you.

To get the access to Live chat one should go to this page, under Contact us click on the Start here button, select Have questions. From the pop up select Technical issue with product. Select FULL Version selection \Select product from drop down box.  Choose Live chat.

However from what you have told me this may be the possible solution:

Please restore the system partition separately. After select the archive of your D partition and specify the files and folders to recover by selecting the corresponding check boxes in the archives tree.

Selecting a folder automatically selects all its nested folders and files.

Use the table to the right of the archives tree to select the nested items. Selecting the check box for the Name column's header automatically selects all items in the table. Clearing this check box automatically deselects all the items.

In other words, I suggest you to perform the recovery of your files and folder instead of recovering the entire partition.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
