creating backup plan - cannot obtain location information because cannot get access to the location

Thread needs solution

I'm setting up a new backup plan on a server and under where to backup I have selected a tape drive that is physically attached to a different server which is also the AMS server. I have created a vault for the tape but when I go into the plan it displays this error under the Where to back up section:

cannot obtain location information because cannot get access to the location. Provide the access credentials.

If I then enter the credentials it accepts them. How can I get it to just automatically remember the credentials without having to enter them each time?
I also suspect this is why the backups have been failing.

Thanks,

Hello Captain LadyLara,

Thank you for your post. I will definitely help you with this issue.

To make sure that you are providing the credentials the correct way, please check that you have clicked on the advanced view in the backup plan creation window, and under Where to backup provide the credentials that are used to access the tape location. Please check this screenshot for details.

If this still fails to resolve the issue, please create a few screenshots of the backup plan creation window and create an AcronisInfo report so that I can take a look at the errors. You can send me a private message with the files.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Masood,

Thank you for your post. I will definitely help you with this issue.

It occurs because you are not prompted for credentials yet the backup location expands. Most likely the user under which you are running Acronis Recovery for Exchange does not have permissions to access your NAS device.

However, I can suggest the following workarounds:

1. Reboot the remote machine to which the NAS is connected and try to setup the backup task one more time.

2. Create a backup task to some shared folder for which you have permissions, but provide your NAS credentials though.

Go through the wizard and save the task.

Navigate to the following folder: Documents and Settings\All USers\Application Data\Acronis\Scripts\

Open the script file for this task using notepad and find in there the path to the network share that you specified. Change the path to your NAS device.

Save the text file and restart all of the Acronis services. It should work now.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or any other issues.

Thank you.
