Deleting Archives

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm looking for a viable solution in regard to the deletion of backups...

At present I have a policy which creates 1 full backup, followed by 4 incrementals. I have plenty of disk space in the vaults, but my ntbackup to tape is limited to 800GB. Therefore I can only keep one set of backups. I have tried (unsuccessfully) to use the 'Keep Archive within XXGB' - 'After Backup' but it keeps erroring out. I presume that it can't create the new backup because of the size limits...however, I am adament that I want the rule to run after the backup because I don't beleive deleting previous backups prior to creating new ones is a particularly good idea.

*Error**

Task 'Cleanup (custom scheme: after backup)' failed: 'Failed to connect to the storage node.

The above error has only started occuring since I've added the option to keep archive within certain file size - it is the same error for all servers. I came in this morning to find it still running (from Friday) and I was unable to browse the vault - the little icon was spinning but could resolve the vault until I restarted the service locally...

What am I doing wrong?

My total backup after 1 full set (1 full, 4 incrementals) is 790GB. I've set the 'Keep Archive within XXGB' - 'After Backup' schedule - 'Consolidate backups'

In my eyes, this should create the new full backup, and consolidate the previous??? But it doesn't and just gives me an 'Error' on the backup policies.

I can't believe how hard it is just to delete the previous weeks, I do not want to keep doing it manually...

I wouldn't mind if I could easily distinguish the backup folder using windows explorer, but all the servers are defined by the SID (or so it seems) so I cannot just pick and choose very easily. And as previously said, I do NOT want to keep manually deleting things in order for it to work.
