Deleting Backup Data from old NAS drive

Thread needs solution

I am using Windows Server 2003 and Acronis Backup & Recovery 11. I decided to change the destination drive for my backups. I created a new vault and a new simple backup plan to do this.
However, I am at a loss of how to recover the space on the old drive of the old backups. I deleted the original Backup Plan, deleted the Vault but am still unable to delete the old backup data as it shows that a directory/folder is not empty. It is using up a significant portion of the drive which I wish to re-use. The drive is not partioned, was only using a folder.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi jwilljtr,

welcome to Acronis Forum!

Could you please check, if old backups can be deleted via Windows Explorer? It would be also helpful to check, if there are any hidden files/folders in the respective folder.

If you need further assistance, please create some screenshots that illustrate the issue.

Thank you!

Sorry for late reply.

Ok windows message appears:

Error Deleting File or Folder
Cannot remove folder 1AC1AA09-1E41-492A-AAEF-3BF7F97CE7DE: The directory is not empty.

It appears that their is a lock file of that name so I found the directory on C: drive under Documents and Settings which I deleted. Tried to delete the old Acronis backup data directory only to be still confronted with the same above message.

Hello jwilljtr,

it seems to be not Acronis issue. Most likely the folder is corrupted and that is why it cannot be removed either with Acronis or in Windows Explorer.

This thread might be useful, but if it doesn't help, I'd suggest contacting Microsoft support.

Thank you.
