Do I need to be logged in for backups to run? (Server 2008 on domain)

Thread needs solution

I have a server 2k8 machine that I setup for file sharing purposes. My goal is to have all files back up over the network to a dedicated share. Here is the lay out below.

The server is on the domain and I went ahead and created an local admin account called Acronis which is part of the administrators group. (Not sure but the Acronis Agent User never was created during the install)

I log into the server with my domain admin account when creating a backup task. Not sure if this is the case but does my account need to be logged on in order for this back up jobs to run, or will acronis just run without having anyone logged in?

When I am logged out I get the following error message "Failed to run the task: unexpected conditions. Additional info: -------------------- Error code: 110 Module: 9 LineInfo: 652a61e599f14d6a Fields: $module : C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\mms.exe Message: Failed to run the task: unexpected conditions. -------------------- Error code: 65520 Module: 0 LineInfo: bd28fdbd64edb8bc Fields: code : 2147943726 Message: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password ". I've double check the network share credentials and also added the share as a personal vault.

I added "Acronis" account to the
Acronis Managed Service and made sure it ran under the correct account but I am still getting the same error. I would like the backups to run without me being logged in under my domain admin account.

Please let me know if I am missing a step here

Thanks

Hello wb,

Thank you for posting.

When you create a backup plan, the product by default sets the access credentials of the user under which you are currently logged in on the current machine. If the credentials are changed or a different user has been specified, the task will fail.

It is also possible that your user under which the backup task was created does not have the required privilege to run Acronis services. Please check the following Knowledge Base article for more information.
