Do I need a license to run console?

Thread needs solution

I support a set of 4 Windows workstations running on a local network without a server. I am thinking of purchasing ABR 11 Advanced for those systems.

I support those systems using my personal laptop in which I don't need ABR as I have Acronis True Image Home 2009 installed on it.

Can I install the ABR Console on my laptop without having to purchase an ABR license? Will there be any conflicts with my Acronis True Image Home?

TIA

In ABR only agents are licensed, so additional console doesn't need a license. However it's not possible to install the console on the machine where True Image Home is already installed.

There is a way to copy folders
Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole
Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery
and registry entries
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\CommonComponents]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Trace\File]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole]
from a machine with the console installed to the machine with TI Home. If it doesn't work this way you can simply delete them.

I tried and ManagementConsole.exe errors out saying "... has encounted a problem and needs to close."

It could be for several reasons.
* I could not find the registry entry " ...\Trace\File"
* I'm trying to run on a Win XP Pro 32-bit system and
ABR11 is installed onto a Win 7 Pro 64-bit system.
* Any number of other mistakes such as typos.... :-)

Thanks anyway...

Oops. I assumed the bitness is the same, otherwise all dll paths will point to wrong Program files vs Program Files(x86) place.

I was looking at the ABR11 TIB file from my Win XP and True Image Home 2009 and I was able to open and peruse it via Explorer. So that brings up the question...

Are the TIB files created by TIH2009 and ABR11 the same?

They are not officially compatible - kb.acronis.com/content/1689 . Corporate line ( ABR, Echo ) and Home ( True Image Home, Backup and Security) may be unable to read each other's archives. Home 2009 is too old to be even listed in the top header of this table (there are only currently supported versions), but it's apparently an "NA" case - sometimes may be compatible, but not tested.

In a meanwhile - take 2....
64->32 :
Program Files (x86)\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole -> Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole
Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Common -> Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Common

export [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\CommonComponents]
edit exported file, remove Wow6432Node from key name, replace 'Program Files (x86)' with 'Program Files' in key values.
export native [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole]
edit exported file, replace 'Program Files (x86)' with 'Program Files' in key values.
Import them on 32-bit machine
