Is Downgrade To True Image Echo Workstation From Backup & Recover Advanced Workstation Still Available ?

Thread needs solution

I am trying to make a final decision about whether to purchase Backup and Recover Workstation Standalone or Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation.

Is the downgrade option to True Image Echo Workstation from Backup & Recover Advanced Workstation still available ? If it is, I will spend the extra money to have this failsafe available to me.

Thanks for your help.

Hello BackItUp!

Thank you for opening the thread regarding this question.

First of all I'd like to notify you that there is actually no differences between Advanced and Standalone versions except remote control features, which allow you to backup several machines over network without physical access to them. So in case you need to backup just one machine, I would advise you to purchase Standalone version.

Anyway there is definitely an downgrade from both Acronis Backup and Recovery versions to Echo available, so feel free to test any scenario!

Let us know in case something's still confusing you.

Thank you!

Dear Yana,

In KB3175 (if the KB article is still valid) it says,
"You can downgrade any edition of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 (see Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Editions), EXCEPT for Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Workstation (Standalone)."

Has there been a change in this and now "Standalone" is downgradable also, or did the exception for "Standalone" just slip your mind? Considering how many posts you have to respond to each day in the forums, [especially some less than happy ones :-) ], I myself would not be able to keep track of all the finer points.

So, please confirm for me if Backup & Recovery Workstation (Standalone) with Universal Restore is downgradeable to True Image Echo Workstation with Universal Restore? If not, I'll get the Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation with Universal Restore to have the option of downgrading to True Image Echo Workstation with Universal Restore.

Thanks for all your help. I appreciate all of your efforts.

Dear BackItUp!

Thank you for pointing me on it, I should have mentioned it before. I'm awfully sorry for the inconvenience.

You are correct, but this articles applies more to the downgrade process from the website, as you can see. And usually we do not downgrade from Standalone version, but we definitely do it in case of emergency (ABR version doesn't work for you, for instance). So I think there is no need to worry. In case you don't like the Standalone version, it gives you a lot of technical issues - just contact me via PM, and I think we will be able to find a resolution fir such situation!

Thank you!

Thank you Yana. I appreciate the clarification and the time and thought that went into writing it.

Regards.
