Hello Martin,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

It is unclear, do you experience the issue under Windows or under Acronis Bootable Rescue Media?

If the program fails to detect the hard drive under Windows, the most probable cause is that a third party software is blocking the access to hard disk drives. To resolve the issue please do the following:

  1. If there is any non-Acronis backup software installed, try temporarily disabling it. See if this resolves the issue. Please also take a look at Compatibility of Acronis Products with HP Backup and Recovery;
  2. If there is any antivirus software, try temporarily disabling it. See if this resolves the issue;

 3. Download SnapAPI update, unpack the archive and run the SnapAPISetup.msi file. Go through the wizard screens and hit Proceed to install the update. You will need to reboot the machine to finish the installation.

See if the issue remains.

If you experience the issue under Acronis Bootable Rescue Media, the only solution is to upgrade your license to Acronis True Image Home 2010. The version you are using is an outdated one, we do not develop it any more.

I may recommend you to install a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 in order to make sure that the program runs flawless for you. Create Acronis Bootable Rescue Media and check its functionality.

If you would like to purchase the upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010, please visit the Acronis online store

Please let us know the results. Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

Oleg

I am having the exact same problem.. The Version 11.0 home has worked flawlessly but now that I have a new Dell Studio XPS computer I cannot get it to recognize the hard drive! This is even more bizaar since neither the boot disk recognizes it nor even if I boot to the Acronis secure zone with no boot disk! The Acronis secure zone opens up when I press F 11 but it does not recognize its own hard drive!
I will try your fix but I am pessimistic.

Mike

PS if I upgrade will that fix it?? guaranteed!!
