Error, when second DVD is asked for

Thread needs solution

When trying to backup to a DVD, the first disk works OK but when the second sisk is requested, an error occurs, even when I offer several new disks. And I tried several new backup routines! Now, when I try to use these rejected disks with an open source burner, "CDBurnerXP" those same rejected disk work fine. Frustrating!!!

Continued: I realized that there was an update to my 2010 Home version and the list of corrections was supposed to correct the second DVD problem. I installed it and Now I can't even write to my DVD the first time.

The last update to 2010 Home works with DVD's OK now. With the last problem I had I found that if I made any mistake setting up my backup and tried to start it over, it didn't work. At least this last time I had to delete any reference to the bad start in the log, then quit the program and start from scratch.
Going to "Tools / Utilities" > "Options" and setting choices here to be MY defaults helps. Reading the manual would have helped but it is long.

Hello Keith,

Thank you for taking time to contact us, I am really glad to hear that the latest build allows you to burn your archives to DVD disks.

Nevertheless, I can propose you a workaround to write an image to DVDs, you can find it interesting. This way allows you to validate the archives after their creation and to prevent you from loosing the disks and money.

The other way to write an image to DVDs would be to create an image set with the archive splitting size at 2 GB on a local hard disk drive and then to copy the created image archives to DVDs. In this case you will have to copy all the archives back to one folder to restore the image.
Please note that once a full image is created as one consistent file it instantly becomes indivisible and in case it exceeds the limit of 4.7 GB (the maximum capacity of a DVD disc) you will not be able to divide it into parts and burn to DVDs. So when creating an image you should bear in mind where you want to store the image to.
However I may recommend you to set the archive splitting size manually if you are planning to transfer an image archive to DVD discs. The archive size should be set at 2 GB to avoid possible discrepancies when being restored later. This proviso relates to most of the modern DVD-writing software.

Thank you.
