Hello Daniele,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Could you please provide us with the exact title of your product and the serial number? What is the build number of your Acronis software? You can find out the build number by selecting "Help" option, "About".

How have you accessed the tape drive? A tape device can be locally attached to a managed machine (in this case, the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent writes and reads the tapes) or accessed through the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Storage Node.

Could you please provide us with the exact model of your tape drive?

Thank you.

Hello Daniele,

Thank you for using Acronis Corporate Products

I should add that Acronis Agent accesses tapes directly. If you have a tape drive attached to a machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7, then you will be able to save a backup to or restore from the tape drive

Acronis Storage Node accesses tapes through Windows Removable Storage Manager (RSM). Since RSM is not available in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7, Acronis Storage Node does not support tapes in these operating systems. This means that you will not be able to create a centralized managed vault on the tape attached to a machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7.

Thank you.

Hello,
I've found the same Daniele's problem:
I've succesfully created a centralized vault on tape drive but when I try to backup data into this centralized vault the error "Failed to run the backup and recovery engine" is raised. If I backup on a centralized valut NOT on a tape drive, backup runs correctly.

Acronis Node is installed on this machine:
OS: Windows Server 2008 SP2 (NOT R2) with RSM correctly installed (otherwise I would not have been able to create a centralized vault on tape)

Tape Drive: HP StorageWorks Ultrium 920 SAS

Acronis version: Acronis Backup & Recovey 10 (build 10.0.1105)

...and I try to backup data from this physical machine with no tape drive:
OS: Windows Server 2003 R2
Acronis Agent version: Acronis Backup & Recovey 10 (build 10.0.1105)

Thanks for your help,
Davide

...sorry, I mean "Acronis Backup & Recovey 10 (build 10.0.11105)" with three "1" in the build number after "10.0."

I forget to say that even if I try to backup data into the centralized tape-vault on the local machine WITH the tape drive backups fail. But if I select the tape drive as a "personal valut", backup runs correctly.

Thank you,
D

Hello.
I've the same problem. If I try to backup data into the centralized tape-vault with the tape drive backups fail.

Acronis version: Acronis Backup & Recovey 10 (build 10.0.11105)
Tape Drive: HP StorageWorks Ultrium 920 SAS

Do you have a solution?

Thanks.
