ERROR WRITING TO FILE message

Thread needs solution

I am using ATI 9.0 on a Windows XP computer backing up my E partition / drive to an external Elements HD. I keep getting the attached error reading.
I would appreciate your help as I at risk if my HD fails.

Thanks

Hello Geoff,

I am familiar with the issue you are experiencing and will do everything possible from my side to provide you with the complete resolution.

1) Download SnapAPI update. Unpack the archive and run the SnapAPISetup.msi file, go through the wizard screens and hit Proceed to install the update. Wait for the process to be completed and reboot the computer. See if the issue remains.

2) If the issue persists, try to connect the USB drive to another port. If you use an USB hub, plug the hard drive directly.

3) Switch your external hard drive to "Optimize for performance" mode:

a. Right-click the My Computer icon and then click Manage.
b. Click the Device Manager icon.
c. Click the plus (+) sign next to Disk Drives.
d. Double-click the USB hard drive string.
e. Click the Policies button then click Optimize for performance and mark all checkboxes
If nothing helps, to give the issue a closer investigation could you please create a backup file and place it to internal hard drive? Validate the archive and let us know the results.
Also please attach the hard dirve to the system, download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach the file to your next post. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your next post. This will help to localize the issue.
I noticed you are not using the latest build.  You may want to update the build, I am not certain if the issue is addressed in the new build at this point, however it is generally a good idea to be up to date. You can learn more on how to download the latest build in this article

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly.

Please let me know if the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question.

Thank you.
