Export vs a simple file copy?
Hi,
I recently purchased Acronis Backup v10 Workstation Standard w/ HIR. Prior to this software, I used another imaging solution. With the old software, I would regularly image my OS spindle to a second spindle dedicated to just the backup images (very fast imaging and restores this way of course). When I wanted to have an offsite copy of the image, I would just copy off the image file(s) to a removable drive. Btw, this was all automated, but I'm keeping it simple here for sake of discussion.
I now see that Acronis Backup v10 Workstation has an Export function that provides for duplication of Archives (or specific Backups within an archive) to an alternate location. If I don't use that Export function, and just keep using my old "copying" method to copy the Acronis Backup v10 *.tib file(s) to a removable drive, will the offsite tib file(s) be usable to restore the OS spindle with the Acronis boot CD hat I have already created (with the appropriate storage drivers)? If yes, would I also need to copy the .meta directory (located where the tib files are) too?
Is there some benefit to using the Export function that I'm missing here? Perhaps simply copying the files doesn't provide for a usable image?
I appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Regards,
Bret
