Hello Donald Amerman,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

Can you please specify what kind of backup job you have defined? Is it a disk/volume or a file/folder backup?

What kind of source (local drive, network share, NAS, etc) is used?

I am looking forward to your answer.

Thank you.

Peter,

Thanks for the response.

It is a simple backup. It is a disk/volume backup.
The source is a PC that is backing up to a NAS. I have 35 other PC's backing up to this same location without this issue.

Thanks,
Don

Hello Donald Amerman,

Thank you for the reply.

I have researched the error message, but was not able to identify the root cause of this issue. It might be an issue with the number of network connections to the NAS. In some environments it is useful to update the NAS itself.

Also you can try to split the number of machines in several groups to reduce the risk of this error. To find out, if this could be a reason, start a simple backup on the affected machine manually and see, if this succeeds. If this succeeds, split the number of machines in minimum two groups and let them start on different times.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi Acronis,

I'm experiencing this issue as well. I'm running the same version of Acronis and am getting the identical error message as Donald letter for letter.

I'm attempting to do a full backup to a Synology Diskstation NAS DS1815+ running DSM 5.2. The machine im backing up is running Windows 2008 Server R2 SP1. This is the only machine attempting to back up to this NAS. I'm connecting to the NAS as a Network share.

I'd be happy to provide any other info if requested.

Thanks!

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your posting! Could you please disable Volume Shadow Copy Service in the backup settings and check if backup works. If yes, then the reason for the error is the VSS-snapshot not being able to capture partitions and we should troubleshoot this issue. However if you don't have any running databases like SQL or Exchange, you can safely disable VSS.

Thank you,

Hi Ekaterina,

Thanks for your reply. I tried disabling VSS and running the backup again. I recieved the same 3 error messages as before (41, 72, 72). We are not running Exchange or SQL.

EDIT: I am recieving the same 3 errors within Acronis 11, but the email I recieve is slightly different:

1   Information   3/7/2016 9:34:01 AM   Command 'Backing up' is running.
2   Error   3/7/2016 9:34:11 AM   Command 'Backing up' has failed.
Additional info:
--------------------
Error code: 61
Module: 309
LineInfo: 4a8728dc8a1c94f4
Fields:  $module : service_process_vs
Message: Command 'Backing up' has failed.
--------------------
Error code: 72
Module: 161
LineInfo: d26f785462585168
Fields:  IsReturnCode : 1, $module : disk_bundle_vs
Message: Failed to lock the object.
--------------------
Error code: 72
Module: 161
LineInfo: d26f785462585168
Fields:  $module : disk_bundle_vs
Message: Failed to lock the object.

The last two errors are the same but the first is different.

Thanks,

--Chris

Hello Chris,

And if you backup the same data to the different target location (local or external HDD), does the issue persists? It will help us to localize the issue. If it occurs only to the NAS, I would check permissions of Acronis Managed Machine service to access the share. If the issue occurs only with this machine being backed up it could also be a permission issue. Please make sure that Acronis Managed Machine has all necessary privileges to backup and restore.

It's also worth checking that you are using the latest build version available under your account.

Thank you,
